I spent this past weekend in Little Rock attending the Arkansas Democrats State Convention. I was honored to be among so many people dedicated to serving their respective communities day-in and day-out.
There is a new wave of energy and excitement in the state of Arkansas. This wave is progressive, it is passionate, and it is picking up more momentum every day. This wave is made of thousands of people who are ready to fight tooth-and-nail for a universal right to healthcare. People who are ready to fight to protect earned benefits like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
This wave is made of people like Jared Henderson, who accepted the Democratic nomination for Governor this weekend. Jared is fighting to ensure that no matter where you’re born, and no matter where you choose to raise your kids, that Arkansas’ quality and access to public education is the best in the country.
This wave is made of people like Chintan Desai, Clarke Tucker, and Hayden Shamel who are running alongside me for seats in the United States’ Congress this year. These are three inspiring and dedicated civil servants who will represent our state well when they are sworn into office this January. I look forward to working with each of them.
Most importantly, this wave is made of people like you. People like you, who go to work every day to put food on the table for yourself and your family. People like you, who are struggling with student debt or medical bills. People like you, who know in their hearts that there is a better path forward than the one Washington Politicians like Steve Womack have laid down for us.
I spent this past weekend with people like you, who are ready to change our communities, our state, and our nation for the better. Now, the weekend is over, and as we all head back to our respective corners of this great state, there is only one thing on my mind:
It’s time to get to work.
